Use case

InSnap for designers

A design review is easier when the feedback points at the exact pixel. InSnap captures the screen, annotates it and keeps references pinned above other windows while you work.

Use InSnap for design QA, before/after comparisons, spacing checks and handoff notes. Capture the state, mark the control, pick a color and pin the reference next to the implementation.

What you can do

  • Capture a region, window or UI element without leaving the design tool.
  • Draw rectangles, arrows and text directly on the capture overlay.
  • Use the magnifier and color picker to check pixels, spacing and hex values.
  • Pin a screenshot above other windows while you compare it with the build.
  • Stitch a long page or a chat thread into one image.
  • Export a clean PNG or copy it straight to the clipboard.

A design review workflow

  • Capture the implemented state and the reference side by side.
  • Mark the spacing or alignment issue with a rectangle or arrow.
  • Pick the color from the build and compare it with the token.
  • Pin the reference above the browser while you inspect the next state.
  • Share the annotated image or add it to the handoff doc.

Why local matters

Design work often includes unreleased screens and customer data. OCR and smart erase run locally; files leave the machine only when you choose to share them.

Honest limits

  • No Linux build: macOS 14.4+ and Windows 10+ only.
  • The color picker and magnifier are capture tools, not a replacement for a full design-token audit.
  • Smart erase is a local algorithm, not a generative fill.

FAQ

Can I compare before and after?

Yes. Capture both states and stitch them in the image editor, or pin one above the other while you compare.

Can I pick a color from the screen?

Yes. The capture overlay includes a magnifier and a color picker with hex/RGB values.

Does InSnap upload my screenshots?

No, not by default. OCR and smart erase run locally; upload only happens if you use the optional Cloud subscription.
