Move Screenshots and Recordings From a Mac to Windows
Sending a screenshot or a recording from a Mac to a Windows PC is the same small job every time. Five ways to do it, and which keep quality and privacy.
Turn Anything You Copy Into a Floating Pin on Your Screen
Text, a file, a table or an image in the clipboard can become a floating note on top of your windows. Here is when that beats a text file.
How to Record Your Screen With Your Webcam on the Same Video
A screen recording with your face in the corner keeps a demo personal. How the camera bubble behaves while you record, and how it becomes part of the final video.
Questions, answered.
What is InSnap?
InSnap is a screenshot, screen recording and how-to guide app for macOS and Windows. Capture a region, annotate it, pin it to your desktop, record your screen with system audio, microphone and camera, or record a task as a step-by-step guide — then copy, save or share the result as a link.
Can InSnap copy text from an image?
Yes. Text recognition (OCR) runs on your computer with an on-device model, so nothing is uploaded. Capture a region or open a pinned image, then select and copy the recognized text. It is included in the free version.
Which languages can text recognition read?
It reads Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), English and other Latin-alphabet languages such as German, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian — accents included — plus numbers. Japanese, Korean and Russian text is not recognized reliably yet.
Can InSnap record my screen?
Yes. Record any region with system audio, microphone and camera; basic screen recording is free. Pro adds GIF recording, auto zoom that follows your clicks, camera picture-in-picture and original-quality export. Recordings open in a built-in editor for trimming, backgrounds and cursor effects, and export as MP4 or GIF.
Is InSnap really free?
Yes. The core app is free with no time limit: screenshots, annotation, pinning, OCR, history and basic screen recording.
A set of advanced tools — Scrolling capture, Spotlight, Magnifier, Watermark, Smart Erase, backgrounds and stitching, GIF recording, auto zoom, camera picture-in-picture, original-quality export and how-to guides — requires InSnap Pro, a one-time paid license. Each Pro feature is clearly labelled in the app and on the pricing page.
Not sure about Pro? The first time you use a Pro feature you can try all of them free for 7 days — no sign-in needed.
What exactly do I get when I buy Pro?
A software license key (activation code), delivered by email. Enter it under Settings › Account & license and the Pro features unlock on up to 3 of your devices. It’s a one-time purchase that includes all future updates — no subscription. You don’t need an account to buy or to activate. Sign in with your purchase email on the license page whenever you want to see or remove the devices using your code.
Do I need an account?
Not for the free app — screenshots, annotations, pins, OCR and basic recording all work without one. Buying and activating Pro don’t need an account either. InSnap Cloud does need a free InSnap account: you sign in once, with Google or a one-time code sent to your email (no password). Signing in with your purchase email also lets you manage your license and its devices on this website.
Does InSnap send my screenshots anywhere?
No. Captures, recordings and text recognition stay on your computer. A file is uploaded only when you press the Share button and have an active InSnap Cloud subscription. See the Privacy Policy.
Which systems are supported?
macOS 14.4 or later (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Windows 10 or later (64-bit). One license and one account work on both.
What is your refund policy?
See the Refund Policy. The free version is fully usable, so you can try InSnap before buying anything.
Your next screenshot is one hotkey away.
